Cool and pleasant, and as dry as possible. Rain is so much wanting. All except Nannie left home. Bill stopped at the C.H. and the rest of us attended Zion, came by Ju’s. I wanted to have some talk with him, but we chatted very little. Spent the afternoon at Mrs. Lewis’.1Mrs. Lewis was the wife of Dr John L. Lewis of “Auburn.” She was Barbara Johanna Winston of Hanover Co. She and the girls were very much pleased to see us. – – I engaged 3 bushels potatoes _?_for Mary.2Are these potatoes for Mary Elizabeth Hanes, Caroline’s married daughter? Price not named. – – All returned home to supper.
