Had the rutabaga seed planted first thing this morning. Frederick ploughed the ground with George. – – Had the dining room nicely cleaned by Bettie and moved the safe’s table, &c.1What was moved was probably a “pie safe,” although other food items were often stored in them. – – Gave the servants holiday. Dellah ironed some dresses for Pigeo and myself. – – Bill and Zac returned from the Point at 12 p.m. Brought some nice crabs. – – Pigeo finished off a beautiful Swiss body.
