Quite a pretty morning. Bill caught 17 shad this morning before breakfast. – – I went to Ju’s in order to call on Mrs. Robins, who is extremely ill, and spent the day.1This is likely Susan H. [Pemberton] Robins, mother of John Armistead Robins. – – Mag, Nan and I walked over to see her and returned to Ju’s to dinner. He had been away all the morning, but returned to dinner. Gave me a gallon onions to plant. we all went with him to the dairy to pick them out. – – He sent Horace to bring out his new horse for me to look at. – – We returned home before sunset. Bake and Pigeo had busied themselves making little things for the servant’s babies, Ben and Iverson. Found them all very happy. Had an early supper and I went out to give the servants their allowance of meal, and left Bill at the table. After he finished, he came out and told Bartlett to take a nap while the wind was blowing, and when it lulled he wanted to make a drift. But, it continued to blow and he did not go out, but slept on the lounge in the front chamber.
